Allegany-James A. "Jim" Brice Sr., of 4115 S. Nine Mile Road, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at the home of his daughter, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 26, 1943 in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of Arthur Brice and Dorothy Wright. On July 25, 1970 in Buffalo, NY, he married Shirley Strope, who predeceased him in September, 1998.
Mr. Brice was a graduate of Cleveland Hills High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1961-1965, during the Vietnam War. He graduated from R.I.T. in Rochester, NY, where he received his Master's Degree in Engineering. He was later employed for Dresser Rand, in Olean for 23 years.
Jim was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 and the Olean Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #616. He loved Karaoke and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Surviving is his mother of Buffalo; 3 daughters Lauri (Tom) Wright of Hiram OH, Dawn (Rick) Roller of Springfield, MO, Delicia (Jim) Willson of Allegany; 1 son James A. Brice Jr.; 7 grandchildren T. J. and Meghann Wright, Aryanna, Kirstan, Hunter Michael, Jordan and Joshua Willson; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his father and 2 sisters.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Monday from 6-9pm. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 31, 2009) at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Sainz, pastor of New Beginnings Assembly of God in Westons Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field of Honor.
