Olean-- Marie Daisy "Tootsie" Kent of 120 N. 4th St. passed away Friday (January 1, 2010) at her daughter's home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 23, 1928 in Olean, she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Daisy M. Ursoy McPeak. Mrs. Kent was a graduate of Olean High School and had worked for the former Castle Restaurant, the former Lincoln Diner and the former Daystrom's Furniture Company. She later went on to work for and retired from Acme Electric Co. in Cuba. Tootsie enjoyed cooking, baking, garage sales, sitting in the sun and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her 5 children Nathan R. Kent of Olean, Debra (Angel) Ferrer of Olean, Carmen (Kevin) Moseley of Binghamton, Sharon (Johnny) Hall of Olean, Wendy (Keith) Clemons of Olean; 1 brother Edwin McPeak Sr., of Olean; 1 sister-in-law Louise McPeak of Elmira; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 3 sons Herman Kent Jr., Jerry Kent and Vincent Kent; 1 brother Jerry McPeak; 2 sisters Nancy Herbert and Sarah Johnson; 1 great grandchild Santana Gomez; and her husband Herman Kent, Sr. At Mrs. Kent's request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will take place at Mt. View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials if desired may be made to Absolut of Allegany, the Mildred Milliman Center of Radiation Medicine 1415 Buffalo Street, Olean, or to the American Cancer Society 6725 Lyons Street, PO Box 7, East Syracuse NY 13057.
