Louis J. Henry
Salamanca, NY-Louis J. Henry of 71 Franklin St. died Wednesday (October 7, 2009) in the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo after a short illness.
Born September 24, 1929 in Jamestown, NY he was the son of Joseph and Mabel Smith Henry.
Louis formerly resided in Tully, NY and Great Valley, NY and had been living in Salamanca for the past four years. He was currently attending the Life Skills Program through the Rehabilitation Center, and at the age of 80 was still enjoying his many friends at the Lifestyles "workshop".
He loved watching older Western movies and the television show "Little House on the Prairie". He enjoyed listening to Gospel music and old time country music. He was passionate about his hobby of collecting model fire trucks and ambulances and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets as well as socializing with family and friends.
His family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the ReHabilitation Center and a special thank you to the care given to Louis by Jody and Jan Sherwood in their Family Care Home.
Surviving are 1 sister Patricia Tucker of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 3 brothers James J. Henry, Roger J. Henry and Richard P. Henry and 1 nephew Daniel Henry.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (October 10, 2009) from 11:00am until time of services at 1:30pm. Rev. Joseph Akiki, pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the ReHabilitation Center 1439 Buffalo St. Olean, NY 14760.
