William M. Eisenhart
Allegany, NY-William M. Eisenhart of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd. died Monday (September 21, 2009) in his home.
Born April 21, 1924 in Olean, NY he was the son of David L. and Marguerite Curci Eisenhart. On November 22, 1947 in Olean, NY he married Bertha A. "Bernie" Ewing who survives.
Mr. Eisenhart was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Army under General George Patton. He was the recipient of 5 bronze ribbons and the Purple Heart. He then worked for Dresser Clark, first as a machine operator and later in the test department before his retirement on May 1, 1986. He had resided in Olean most of his life until moving to Allegany in 1995.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a former parishioner of St. John's Church in Olean. He was also a member of the American Association of Retired People and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Musician's Union, the National Rifle Association and the Bradford Pistol Club.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters Jean Sewell of Port Allegany, PA and Joan (Mark) Hoffman-Williams of Allegany; 3 grandchildren Jason Sewell, Kelly Sewell and Nathan Hoffman; 1 great granddaughter Emma Sewell; 2 brothers Donald (Erma) Eisenhart of Phoenix, AZ and David (Dora) Eisenhart of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Dolores Nolder.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (September 24, 2009) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military services being accorded by the ritual team of the Allegany American Legion. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of WNY 4245 Union Rd. Cheektowaga, NY 14225, the Upstate New York Transplant Services 110 Broadway Buffalo, NY 14203 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
