Barbara A. Kosztowski "beloved aunt and friend" Olean, NY-- Barbara A. Kosztowski, recently of The Pines in Olean and formerly of 313 S. 5th St. died Saturday (May 3,2003) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born October 13, 1921 in Homer, NY she was the daughter of Edwin and Alice Benedict Grant. In 1969 she married Walter Kosztowski who died in 1980. Mrs. Kosztowski graduated from Homer Central School after which she worked at Durkee Bakery as office manager. She moved to Carthage when the company moved their headquarters there. After their business closed, she started working in the offices of Climax Box Company until her retirement. In 1983 she moved to Cortland, NY to assist her sister-in-law in the care of her brother. In 1999 she moved to Olean to live with her niece, Dawn Grant and her friend Bonita Carpenter. She was a member of the Homer Avenue United Methodist Church in Cortland and the Order of the Eastern Star in Lowville, NY. Surviving are her niece Dawn Grant and a special friend Bonita Carpenter, both of Olean; an aunt Arlene Grant of Williamstown, MA and several other nieces. She was predeceased by her husband; a brother Charles Grant; 3 sisters Mary Thompson, Frances Grant and Eleanor Grant. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in New Saint James Cemetery in Carthage, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
