Thomas H. Quinn
Olean, NY-Thomas H. Quinn of 138 S. 3rd St. passed away Wednesday (July 8, 2009) in Millard Fillmore Hospital, Gates Circle, Buffalo.
Born June 10, 1923 in Buffalo, NY he was the son of Raymond and Margaret McCormick Quinn. On November 28, 1953 in Bradford, PA he married Anne C. Conley who survives.
Mr. Quinn was a graduate of Olean High School and of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business where in 1945 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Prior to the completion of his education he enlisted in the US Army where he served with the 15th Air Force in Florence, Italy.
He had been employed by Dexter-Hysol Co. in Olean where he had worked for 41 years, retiring as purchasing manager in 1986.
Mr. Quinn was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and had been a former parish council president. He was a member of the Purchasing Managers Association, was a past board member of both the former St. Francis Hospital and the former Erie Savings Bank. He had also served as the president of the former Olean Community Chest and had served on a committee that helped design the present day Olean Municipal Building. He took great pleasure in spending many of his summer months at Cuba Lake.
Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Mary Elizabeth (Ken) Quattrone of Allegany, Anne Colleen Quinn of Chandler, AZ and Thomas Henry Quinn, III of Charlottesville, VA; 2 granddaughters Sarah Quattrone of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Mallory Quattrone of Allegany; 1 sister Jeanne Q. Williams of Clearwater Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother in infancy.
There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church, the Olean General Hospital Foundation or to the Olean Food Pantry, 8 Leo Moss Drive Olean, NY 14760.
