William C. "Bill" See "devoted husband, father, grandfather" Hinsdale, NY--William C. "Bill" See of 4004 Gile Hollow Rd. died Monday (December 15, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born April 1, 1929 in Randolph, NY he was the son of Benjamin and Frances Stevens See. On January 5, 1957 in Hinsdale, NY he married Marjorie L. Taylor who survives. Mr. See was raised in Hinsdale and entered the US Army in 1950 where he was stationed at the cold weather station in Churchill, Canada. He later worked for Bethlehem Steel Co. in Buffalo prior to his employment for Dresser Rand. He worked as an assembler for 34 years prior to his retirement. Mr. See was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Norton Chambers Post 1434. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Surviving besides his wife are 5 children Catherine Fanton of Gastonia, NC, Amy (Dustin) Croft of Olean, Kimberley (Randy) Cassidy of Allegany and Terri (Charles) Magee and William H. (Betsy) See, both of Hinsdale; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 1 brother Clifton See of Erie, PA and 1 sister Geneva (Robert) Willover of Hinsdale; an aunt Evelyn Root of Randolph and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Eugene E. See and Eldon L. See and 1 sister Twyla Rae Higman. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (December 19, 2003) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be the Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ischua Fire Department, the Hinsdale Fire Department or to the American Legion in Hinsdale.
