HAROLD WILLIAMS OLEAN - Harold Williams of 910 Wayne Street died Sunday December 21, 2003 at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Franklinville, NY on September 21, 1919 he was a son of John and Marguerite Willover Williams. Mr. Williams served in the United States Army during WWII where he received the American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following the war, Harold was employed for the railroad and later worked as a mechanic for many years at Crosby's in Hinsdale prior to his retirement. He liked stock car racing and he enjoyed working with anything mechanical. He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca (Jack) Cleveland with whom he resided, Betty (Terry) Sweet of Jacksonville, FL and Linda Hale of Hinsdale, NY; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren including a special great grand daughter Jayde and several great great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Cuba, Mary Adams of Black Creek, Margaret Gaines of Friendship; two brothers, Kenneth Williams of Cuba and Richard Williams of Black Creek. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph Williams and a sister Ruth Hemmingway. Friends will be received on Tuesday December 23, 2003 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 12:00 until 1:00 at which time funeral and committal services will be conducted. The Hinsdale American Legion will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, veteran's field of honor. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
