CECILE J. MEDLAND OLEAN – Cecile J. Medland, formerly of 356 Queen Street, died Monday December 29, 2003 at the Waters Of Salamanca. Born in Canada on March 16, 1919 she was a daughter of Oliver and Pilamen St. Louis. She received her naturalization papers in 1964. She married Ronald Bishop who predeceased her. On November 22, 1952 she married Clyde Medland who predeceased her in 1998. Following the death of her husband Ronald, she continued to run their advertisement and public relations business and joined the Moss Chase advertising agency in Buffalo. She later worked for Olean Wholesale in the retail accounting department until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was an avid golf and bridge player. She was associated with Interfaith Caregivers for ten years. Cecile is survived by several nieces and nephews including Judy Laccese, John and Kathleen Conner, all of Boston, NY and Jim and Sandra Conner of Olean. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by a sister Yvonne Hartley. Friends will be received on Wednesday December 31, 2003 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at which time funeral and committal services will be conducted. Rev. John Bartz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to Interfaith Caregivers.
