Obituary of Ray E. Hetrick

Ray E. Hetrick “Loving husband, father, grandfather and best friend” Olean, NY—Ray E. Hetrick of 508 Wayne St. died Sunday (May 18, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born November 6, 1949 in Spangler, PA he was the son of Charles and Eleanor Fulton Hetrick. In 1970 he married Candace Seastrand Buckner who survives. Mr. Hetrick was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the US Army from 1966 until 1969. He had been employed for 32 years by Dresser Rand Co. in Olean until his retirement in 2000 due to poor health. When he was healthy he enjoyed hunting and training beagles with his best friend Kevin Carll. He also enjoyed riding his trike during the Rally in the Valley. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was affectionately known to them as papap and he will always be kept close to their hearts. Surviving besides his wife are 2 children William (Bonta) Buckner of Ft. Bragg, NC and Christine (Steve) Mesiarik of Olean; 3 grandchildren Thomas Mosher, Christopher Mosher and Angelina Mesiarik, all of Olean; 2 sisters Eleanor (Jim) Sherry of Northern Cambria, PA and Darlene (Richard) Lawhead of Eldred, PA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 1 son Raymond Phillip “Little Ray” Hetrick on November 14, 1978 and a brother Jay Hetrick in 2004. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 10:00am until noon and from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. Funeral services will begin at 6:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
