Thomas K. Rado “Former Allegany resident” Crestview, FL—Thomas K. Rado of 5511 Royal St. died Friday (July 18, 2008) at his home in Crestview. Born September 4, 1943 in Allegany, NY he was the son of Joseph M. and Ann M. Harris Rado. He was married to Sandra Lynn Mead who survives. Mr. Rado was a 1963 graduate of Allegany Central School where he lettered in football and he also graduated from St. Bonaventure University. He had been a resident of Crestview since 1986 and had been employed as a fifth grade teacher at Southside Elementary School in Crestview. He was a former member of St. Bonaventure Church and was a former member of Boy Scout Troup 66 where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Crestview where he taught third grade religious education class for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was an avid WWII aircraft buff. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters Peggy (Brian) Mack of Crestview, FL and Kim Rado of CO; 1 granddaughter Hanna Mack; 2 twin brothers Joseph (Arlene) Rado and David Rado, both of Allegany; his twin sister Lynda Backhaus of Allegany, several nieces, nephews and cousins and his mother-in-law Helen Mead. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (July 23, 2008) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
