Charles J. Raso
Richwood,OH—Charles J. Raso of 28436 State Route 31 died Friday (November 14, 2008) in Union County Memorial Hospital in Marysville, OH after a short illness.
Born September 7, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of Antonio and Giuseppina Cusomano Raso. On August 9, 1958 in St. Bonaventure Church he married Gladys M. Rado who predeceased him April 1, 1999.
Mr. Raso received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Francis College in Brooklyn and later received a Masters in both Physics and Chemistry. He then graduated from St. Bonaventure University with a Masters in Mathematics. From 1943 to 1946 he served with the US Marine Corps during WWII.
He was first employed by St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington, OH and later taught math and science at New Lexington High School. He had also been employed as a chemist for several years for the Crooksville Coal Co. in Crooksville, OH.
He had been a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in New Lexington and later the Holy Family Church in Columbus, OH. For the past six years he had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marysville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Lexington.
Surviving are 2 daughters Josephine Sue (Charles) Miller of Reynoldsburg, OH and Mary Lee (Eric) Murray of Richwood, OH; 7 grandchildren Ashley, Brittany, Nicole, Kristen, Anthony, Jason (Laura) and Erica; 1 sister Mary Aurisano of Long Island and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by 4 brothers James Raso, Joseph Raso, Tony Raso and Vito Raso.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (November 18, 2008) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by members of the Allegany American Legion. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church 584 W. Broad St. Columbus, OH
