Obituary of Thomas M. Hopkins

Thomas M. Hopkins “former Allegany resident” Merrimac, NH—Thomas M. Hopkins, 45, of 4 Edwards Lane died unexpectedly Tuesday (January 2, 2007) in his home. Born June 4, 1961 in Olean, NY he was the son of Larry N. and Margaret Williams Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a graduate of Allegany Central School and later enlisted in the US Navy where he served for eight years. He moved to California and lived in San Diego and Orange County. He then resided in Merrimac for the past five years and worked as a staff systems engineer for Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Some of his passions were computers, video games and movies and he loved having cats for pets. Surviving are his father of Ormond Beach, FL; 2 brothers Timothy Hopkins of Salamanca and Todd (Reesa) Hopkins of Worthington, OH; 2 sisters Theresa (R.C.) Alley of Mission Viejo, CA and Trisha (Mike) Graper of Anaheim Hills, CA; 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 1 great niece. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1979. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 8, 2007) at 4:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. Alexandra Freer, New Ministries Specialist at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Donations in honor of Tom’s love of cats may be directed to !PetSmart Charities 19601 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85027.
