Robert L. Sweitzer "loving husband and father" Allegany, NY- Robert Leon Sweitzer of 720 Lippert Hollow Rd. died suddenly Tuesday (June 3, 2003) in his home. Born May 5, 1934 in Allegany he was the son of Leon and Marion "Molly" Malone Sweitzer. He was married in 1970 to Muriel Herschfield who survives. Mr. Sweitzer was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1957-1962 and was retired from General Motors in Tonawanda, NY. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, the Allegany American Legion and the Olean Rod and Gun Club. Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Darryl Robert (Jennifer) Sweitzer of Cheektowaga, NY and Albert Previte of Antioch, TN; 1 granddaughter Autumn Leigh Sweitzer; 1 sister Suzanne Dieteman of Florida; 2 nephews Patrick Walsh and Brian Walsh, a niece Diane Dieteman and an uncle George Day of Allegany. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law John Dieteman. Friends will be received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where a prayer service will be held Thursday (June 5, 2003) at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Bonaventure Chruch. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department, the Genesis House PO Box 139 Olean, NY 14760 or to the Mental Health Association's COMPEER Program 502 N. Union St. Olean, NY 14760.
