Obituary of Betty Jean Babcock

Betty Jean Babcock “Loving niece” Olean, NY—Betty Jean Babcock, a three year resident of The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean died Sunday (January 7, 2007). Born October 5, 1932 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Lawrence and Marjorie Anderson Babcock. Miss Babcock attended St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo and recently had been attending the Linwood Center in Allegany. She lived in Olean most of her life and after her parents death was cared for for several years by her aunt June Giunta. She recently had resided in Hinsdale and Machias prior to moving to the Pines in 2003. She enjoyed watching television, playing bingo, and she liked house pets. Surviving are an aunt June Giunta of Olean and several cousins including Larry (Linda) Giunta of Sacramento, CA, Edward (Kathy) Babcock, James (Debbie) Babcock and Thomas Babcock, all of Canandaigua. There will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held Wednesday (January 10, 2007) at 11:00am in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center 2245 W. State St. Olean, NY or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
