Marie L. Napoleoni “Champion bowler, avid bingo player” Olean, NY—Marie L. Napoleoni of 102 W. Spring St. died Friday (January 19, 2007) in Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born August 11, 1936 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Leon Evans and Ruth Gardner. She was the loving stepdaughter of Frank Gardner. Mrs. Napoleoni was a graduate of Olean High School and first worked at Olean American Tile. She also worked for Blue Bird Coach Lines and then as operations manager for Laidlaw Co., retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Weston’s Mills, the Olean Moose Lodge and the Olean Elk’s Lodge. She also belonged to the Town of Olean Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was known as a champion bowler where she was a member of the Olean Woman’s Bowling Association. She was also an avid bingo player, and enjoyed doing puzzles, roller skating, knitting and crocheting. Her fondest activities were spending time with her friends at Spring Court, bowling and being with her bingo buddies. Surviving are 3 daughters Genevieve (Bruce) Tucker of Woodbridge, VA, Darla Napoleoni and Victoria (Tony) Irizarry, both of Olean and Anthony (Christine) Napoleoni of Ceres; 9 grandchildren Stephanie (Michael) Lewis of Vernon Hill, VA, Heather Tucker of Woodbridge, VA, Adam Zaleski of Harker Heights, TX, Gordon (Ginae) Gayton of Olean, Daniel Deckman, Jr. of Olean, David (Jaimee) Deckman, Sr. of Hinsdale, Anthony Napoleoni, Rose Napoleoni and Lindsay Napoleoni, all of Ceres; 6 great grandchildren Kayla Bridge of Woodbridge, VA, Andrew Zaleski of Harker Heights, TX, Mia Lewis of Vernon Hill, VA and Julie Deckman, Deziray Deckman and David Deckman, Jr., all of Hinsdale; 1 sister Francine (Lyle) Worthington of Tampa, FL; 1 brother Leon (Mary) Evans of Cookville, TN; 2 brothers-in-law Stanley Morgan of Olean and John Worthington of Eldred, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters Roxanne Worthington, Dolores Morgan and Betty Maynard. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 22, 2007) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Carol Thayer, pastor of Portville United Methodist Church and St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Weston’s Mills, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center 515 Main St. Olean, NY 14760.
