Philip L. Thompson Olean, NY—Philip L. Thompson of 213 N. 13th St. died Sunday (January 21, 2007) in his home. Born June 24, 1951 in Port Allegany, PA he was the son of Jesse Harold and Margaret Louise Price Thompson. On January 8, 1982 in Christ United Methodist Church in Olean he married Christine Long who survives. Mr. Thompson attended school in Shinglehouse, PA and then served nine years with the US Marines with part of that duty in the Vietnam War. He had most recently worked for Maplevale Farms and previous to that had worked for Buttercrust Bakery and a local Linen Supply Co. He resided in Long Beach, CA for five years where he worked for the Bricklayers and Marble Workers Union. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the Olean Elk’s Lodge #491. Surviving besides his wife are his mother of Shinglehouse, PA; 3 sons Jeff (Kim) Thompson of Olean, Brian Thompson of Olean and Stephen Thompson of Olean; 2 daughters Nichole Thompson of Olean and Heather Thompson of Olean; 3 grandchildren Jenna Thompson, Ryan Thompson and Justin Thompson; 2 sisters Linda (Philip) Gustin of Long Beach, CA and Evelyn (Robert) Reising of Hesperia, CT and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Casper, Kimba, Sassy and Pugsy. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday (January 24, 2007) from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
