Obituary of Joeann C. Spring

Joeann C. Murphy Spring “Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother” Allegany, NY--Joeann C. Murphy Spring of 3405 Five Mile Rd. died unexpectedly Wednesday (February 7, 2007) in her home. Born May 16, 1942 in Olean, NY she was the foster daughter of Doris and Andrew Shaffer. On August 13, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany she married Jerry Spring who survives. Mrs. Spring was a graduate of Allegany Central School and resided in Allegany most of her life. Her life was centered on family activities including camping, playing cards and doing puzzles. She enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband are 4 children June (Rick) Giles, Bonnie (Bob Russo) Cedeno, Andrew (Connie) Spring and Eugene (Keri) Spring, all of Allegany; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother Claude Murphy; 1 sister-in-law Marion Shaffer and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 2 brothers Donald Shaffer in 1951 and Douglas Shaffer. The family will receive friends on Friday (February 9, 2007) from 5-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 7pm. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
