Obituary of Mary F. Welch

Mary F. Welch Olean, NY—Mary F. Welch of 130 N. 12th St. died Wednesday (May 16, 2007) in her home. Born October 21, 1927 in Ashford, NY she was the daughter of John and Alice Dailey !McGarvey. On October 10, 1959 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Martin J. Welch who survives. Mrs. Welch was a 1944 graduate of Olean High School and also graduated from Westbrook Commercial Academy. She worked at the former Dow Equipment Co. in Olean and also for Dresser Clark Co. She then worked for the Cattaraugus County Probation Department in Olean prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Villa Maria Society. She was also a former Lady Knight with the Knights of Columbus Olean Council #338. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, attending horse races and also watching soap operas. Surviving besides her husband are 2 sons Martin Welch, Jr. of Edwards AFB in Lancaster, CA and Sean Welch of Eldred, PA. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (May 19, 2007) beginning with a prayer service at 1:30pm in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm at St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
