Obituary of Irene W. Marcks

Irene W. Marcks “Loving wife and mother” Rixford, PA-- Irene W. Marcks of 1 Oak St. died Saturday (June 9, 2007) in the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA. Born September 3, 1944 in Akron, OH she was the daughter of George Olear and Dorothy Cochran Olear Letts. On September 28, 1991 in Lumberton, NC she married Charles A. Marcks who survives. Mrs. Marcks had been a resident of Olean most of her life, having moved to Lumberton, NC in 1991 and later to Rixford in 2001. She was an artist of many talents having made her living by working with several mediums including photography, taxidermy, pottery, ceramics, oil paintings and acrylics. She was also creative with woodworking, bronzing and silvering, crocheting and macramé. Her hobbies included gardening and talking on the CB radio. Surviving besides her husband are 3 daughters Sheri Lynn (Christopher) Hicks of Rixford, PA, Ginger Oliver Prior of Jamestown and Dawn Oliver Kayes of Olean; 5 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; 3 great granddaughters; 1 brother Raymond Letts of Olean; 1 niece; 1 nephew; 1 great niece; 1 great nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 1 brother Bruce Letts in 1973 and a beloved stepfather Raymond Letts. Friends may gather with the family at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday (June 13, 2007) from 11:00am until noon. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at noon. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Lupus Alliance of WNY 3871 Harlem Rd. Cheektowaga, NY 14215.
