Obituary of Victoria Donavon

Victoria Donavon “Loving Mother and grandmother” Olean, NY—Victoria Donavon, formerly of Brookside Community in Olean, passed away Friday (June 22, 2007) at The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born October 27, 1914 in Olean, she was the daughter of Abdo and Minnie George Joseph. On July 17, 1937 at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, NY, she married Paul Donavon who predeceased her in April of 1960. Mrs. Donavon had attended Olean High School and had resided in Olean for most of her life. She had first been employed as a hair dresser before her marriage and later worked for the former A’lcove Restaurant and also for Ivers J. Norton Elementary School. She enjoyed raising a family, cooking and taking care of her home. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and its Altar Society and she also helped out on the bingo committee. Surviving is a daughter Virginia “Birdie” (John) !McNalley of Lakewood, Co; two sons Francis (Colleen) Donavon of Olean, Michael (Carol) Donavon of The Villages, Fl; 10 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; a sister Virginia Joseph of Olean; a brother Francis (Marie) Joseph of East Rutherford, NJ; two sisters-in-law Florence Joseph and Mary Joseph, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Eva Yorke. Besides her husband she was predeceased by 4 brothers Joseph Joseph, George Joseph, Frederick Joseph, and Mielad Joseph. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A prayer service will be held Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at 9:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Joseph Akiki, pastor, as Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery Memorials if desired may be made to The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center 2245 W. State St. Olean.
