Joaine Hooper “Former Town Justice”
Hinsdale—Joaine S. Hooper of 3868 Main Street, Hinsdale, passed away Wednesday (July 18, 2007) at Erie County Medical Center after a brief illness
Born August 13, 1934 in Franklinville, she was the daughter of Jay and Mary Neveau Watkins. On January 12, 1951 she married Robert G. Hooper who predeceased her November 29, 1994.
Mrs. Hooper was a graduate of Olean High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hinsdale and served on the Hinsdale Cemetery Town Board. She was employed at Olean Advanced Products for 14 years but she was most passionate about her work as the Town Justice of Hinsdale where she loved the town and the towns people. Her final gift was to donate her organs so that others may live.
Surviving are her 2 sons Robert (Aida) Hooper Jr. of Troy Ohio, and Thomas Hooper of Hinsdale; 2 daughters Nancy (William) Clayson of Hinsdale and Toni (Richard) Gleason of Hinsdale; 2 brothers Willis Watkins of Medina and Kenneth Watkins of Perrysburg; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road Olean on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday (July 21, 2007) at 1pm. Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz, pastor of Hinsdale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Hinsdale Cemetery, Maplehurst.
Memorials if desired may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department, Hinsdale United Methodist Church or the Hinsdale Alumni Scholarship Fund.
