Obituary of Margaret A. Sheridan

Olean—Margaret A. Sheridan a resident of the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, passed away Wednesday August 15, 2007. Born October 22 1909, in New York City, she was a daughter of Thomas and Bridget Golden Hefferon. In March 1928 she married Joseph Seghini at St. Gabriel’s Church in New York City. He died on March 21, 1936. She later married John B. Sheridan in November 1941 at St. Stephen’s Church in New York City. He predeceased her on September 17, 1964. Mrs. Sheridan was a 81 year resident of New York City and she also lived with her daughters in Yardley Pa., Cape Coral, Fla. and in Olean. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards and keeping in touch with family and friends as well as making new friends. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church in New York City and the church’s Mother’s Club and Altar Society. She was also a member of St. Ignatius Church in Yardley, Pa and their senior citizen’s group. Surviving are 4 children Margo Daniello (David Terzian) of Yardley, Pa, Theresa (Edmund) Memmott of Olean, John (Joan) Sheridan of Shepherdstown, WV, James (Susan) Sheridan of New York City, NY; 2 daughters-in-laws Mary Seghini and !JoAnn Seghini; a special cousin Joan Joy and a very close niece Mary Beth (Ron) England of Cornwall NY; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides both of her husbands she was predeceased by three sons Joseph Seghini, Thomas Seghini and Robert Seghini; and a sister Mary Ganzekaufer. Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road Olean, on Friday August 17, 2007 from 6-7pm at which time a prayer service will be held with Rev. Gregory Dobson pastor of St. Mary of the Angels officiating. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at the Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Ave Yardley, Pa from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 20, 2007 at St. Ignatius Church at 10am in Yardley Pa. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery on Long Island. In lieu of flowers, please send a card to someone you love in memory of Margaret. Donations if desired can be made to St. Mary of the Angels Renovation Fund 202 S. Union St. Olean NY 14760 or to the Friends of the Pines 2245 W. State St. Olean.
