Thomas W. Auman “Huge Buffalo Bills fan” Olean-- Thomas W. Auman died unexpectedly Thursday (October 18, 2007) in Olean of an apparent heart attack at the home of his daughter, Jennifer Auman. Born June 1, 1950 in Olean, he was the son of Thomas and Donna Beaton Auman. He attended St. Mary’s School and Olean High School. Thomas first worked at Clark Brothers and later owned and operated his own business, Tom Auman’s Roofing Co. until his first heart attack in 1988. In 1989, he moved to Las Vegas where he attended Dealer School and worked in several casinos. In 1992, he moved to Connecticut when the Foxwood Resort and Casino opened. He worked there as a supervisor until recently. He moved back to Olean to be closer to his family and was staying with his daughter, Jennifer. He was slated to begin work at the casino in Salamanca. While in Olean he was an avid bowler, and bowled in several leagues each week. He was a great hunter and returned to his mother’s home in Portville each year to hunt deer with his sons, Tom and Tony. Tom was a huge Buffalo Bills fan as well as a huge Boston Red Sox fan. For a hobby he enjoyed panning for gold in North Carolina. Surviving are his mother Donna Kayes of Portville; 3 sons Anthony (Angie) Auman of Shinglehouse, Pa, Thomas G. (Brier) Auman II of Cuba, Kevin Auman of Olean; 3 daughters Denise (Dan) Ek of Scio, Kimberly (Robert) Foreman of Clarksville, TN and Jennifer Auman of Olean; 10 grandchildren Dan Ek, Shelby Ek, Christopher Auman, Cheyann Auman, Rylee Foreman, Brooklyn Auman, Brianna Foreman, Destiny Auman, Branden Foreman and Dreamalea Foreman; 3 brothers Jude (Cindy) Auman of Portville, Raymond (Debra) Auman of Angelica, Greg (Kimberly) Auman of Nekoosa, Wis., 2 sisters Theresa Kinnicutt of Bolivar, Melody (Zane) Grabow of Bolivar; 21 nieces and nephews and 14 great- nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Thomas G. Auman, 2 infant brothers Joseph and Richard, an infant sister Roxanne, an infant granddaughter Jessica Auman, his maternal grandparents Angus and Eva Beaton, his paternal grandparents Phillip and Margaret Auman, his step-father Henry L. Kayes and a brother-in-law Lloyd Kinnicutt. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road Olean on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday (October 22, 2007) at 11am. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to the American Heart Association.
