Alexander J. “AJ” Maleski, Jr. Olean, NY—Alexander J. “AJ” Maleski, Jr. of 124 N. 7th St. died Sunday (October 21, 2007) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY after a long illness. Born in Olean, NY, he was the son of Alexander and Josephine Zlothowski Maleski, Sr. He was married to Susan L. Steiger who survives. Mr. Maleski was a graduate of Olean High School and graduated from Erie County Technical Institute. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He was a former member of the International Union of Operative Engineers Local 545-D and had been employed by several construction companies as well as by the Army Corps of Engineers. He also worked for the Pepsi Bottling Co. in Olean as well as for the City of Olean. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany and had previously coached South Olean Midget Football as well as an Olean Little League team. His passion was fishing and he was a Miami Dolphins fan. Surviving besides his wife are 4 children Michelle (Murray) Petrie of Tonawanda, Kelley (Andrew) Niver, Robert Maleski and Kasi Maleski, all of Olean; 8 grandchildren; 1 sister Bernadette (Richard) Carpenter of W. Palm Beach, FL and 3 nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (October 25, 2007) at 11:00am in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Allegany. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor, and Rev. Gerald Drum will co-officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
