ROBERTA C. KNIER OLEAN - Roberta C. Knier of Garden Avenue died Tuesday August 6, 2002 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Olean on February 19, 1914 she was a daughter of Robert and Lillian Allen Shaner. Her father died prior to her birth and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Stanley Secord She married Earl Knier who predeceased her in 1969. Mrs. Knier worked for the war plant in Ithaca, NY during WWII. She enjoyed nature and music. She is survived by a daughter Sally Knier of Olean and a son Curtis Knier of Cuba, NY. Seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Two half brothers Richard (Helen) Secord of San Clemente, CA and Jack (Dolly) Secord of Normal, Ill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sons Earl, Roy and Ronald Knier There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday August 9, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. Rev. Richard Keel, chaplain at the Olean General Hospital will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or to the American Cancer Society.
