“loving mother and grandmother”
Allegany, NY-- Virginia M. Yehl of 3257 N. 7th St. passed peacefully into her Lord’s hands on Friday (March 31, 2006) in the Olean General Hospital with her family by her side.
Born November 18, 1915 in Indian Creek, PA she was the daughter of Matthew and Mary Stephan Lippert. On September 10, 1941 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Ernest M. Yehl who predeceased her June 22, 1986.
Mrs. Yehl was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Academy and also of Westbrook Commercial Academy. She was a lifelong resident of Allegany and along with her husband had owned and operated Yehl’s Dairy on N. 7th Street for many years.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Allegany Historical Society. She was very active with raising her family and working on the farm but she also was an active bowler and she enjoyed growing roses.
Surviving are 2 sons Stephen M. Yehl of Allegany and Richard M. (Sue) Yehl of Allegany; 3 daughters Jeanne M. (John) Tinelli of Rochester, Mary E. Yehl of Rochester and Karen A. (Michael) Manzo of Olean; 3 granddaughters Sara (Kevin) Tilson, Katie (Brad) Camp and Gretchen Yehl; 1 sister Jane !McCaffery of Allegany; 1 brother Steve (Bea) Lippert of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 6-9pm only. Funeral services will be held Monday (April 3, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Fr. Richard C. Flaherty, OFM will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Historical Society, the Allegany Public Library or to the Allegany Fire Department.
