Obituary of Floy R. Marsfelder

Floy R. Marsfelder “loving mother, grandmother and friend” Olean, NY—Floy R. Marsfelder of 240 S. Clinton St. died peacefully at home Friday (September 22, 2006) after a short illness. Born December 1, 1934 in Sodus, NY she was the daughter of George D. and Hazel Moore Mason. Mrs. Marsfelder was a resident of Olean most of her life having graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed as an LPN at the former St. Francis Hospital, the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse and later the Allegany Nursing Home prior to her retirement. She also worked for Home Health Care of Southwest New York. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean. She loved dogs, especially basset hounds and raised many of them as pets. Surviving are 4 children Steven (Diane) Marsfelder of Belmont, NC, Susan (Emil Ash) Spears of Olean, William (Laurie) Marsfelder of Olean and Michael (Wendi) Marsfelder of Olean; 5 grandchildren Gregory Spears, Michelle Spears, Nicole Marsfelder, Kaylee Marsfelder and Jackson Marsfelder; 1 sister Shirley (Michael) Kessler-Young of Rochester, NY, several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Dottie Mason of Haines City, FL. She was predeceased by 1 brother William Mason. The family will receive friends at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday (September 24, 2006) from 3 until 4:30pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Cattaraugus County 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
