Dorothy Ann Privateer
Allegany, NY—Dorothy Ann Homan Privateer passed away on Friday (October 20, 2006) in The Waters of Allegany after a long period of failing health.
Born August 30, 1921 in Warren, PA she was the youngest of 6 children born to Andrew and Agatha Woodard Homan. On November 23, 1944 in Warren, PA she married Dr. George J. Privateer who predeceased her April 17, 2002.
Mrs. Privateer graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1972 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She worked for years as a caseworker for Cattaraugus County. She was an avid bridge player and her passion for golf earned her many trophies.
Surviving are 1 son Christopher (Kathy) Privateer of Marietta, GA; 2 daughters Penelope (Bill) Cunningham of Park City, UT and Pamela (Arnold) !DePetro of Kennesaw, GA; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-5pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (October 23, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
