Obituary of Barbara Mary Elofson

Barbara Mary Elofson Olean, NY--Barbara Mary Elofson, formerly of Olean died Sunday (November 26, 2006) in the Gowanda Nursing Home where she had resided the past four years. Born May 9, 1909 in Spencerport, NY she was the daughter of John Lawrence and Yanna Agnes Lepesic Landrich. On April 4, 1931 in Cuba, NY she married Oscar Elofson who predeceased her April 24, 1976. Mrs. Elofson attended school in Cuba and worked for a short time for the former Union Cutlery, later K-Bar Cutlery in Olean. She was a homemaker who was a longtime active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean and who was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed walking and volunteering at her church with cleaning and planting flowers. Surviving are one brother John L. Landrich of Clarence, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 5 sisters Agnes E. Cummins, Kathryn Bump, Anna Coyle, Mary Thurber and Lucielle Day and 5 brothers Joseph Landrich, Francis Landrich, William Landrich, Lucius Landrich and Lawrence Landrich. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 7-8pm and at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean on Tuesday (November 28, 2006) from 11:00am until noon at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. Paula Roulette, pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Portville, will officiate. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery in Maplehurst, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association 2805 Wehrle Drive Williamsville, NY 14221.
