MILDRED CHAPIN
GERRY - Mildred Chapin, formerly of Allegany and Lakeland Florida died Thursday August 29, 2002 at Heritage Village in Gerry. Born in Buffalo, NY on June 28, 1908 she was a daughter of Charles and Lois Chapin Shafer. On August 8, 1951 in Allegany she married Welcome Chapin who predeceased her December 24, 1984.
She was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1926. Mrs. Chapin was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Allegany where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer for 60 years. She is survived by one sister, Esther Shafer of Heritage Village. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Shafer.
Friends will be received on Saturday August 31, 2002 from 2-4 PM at Heritage Village Health Care Center, Schwab Building, Seeley Chapel, Gerry, NY. Friends will also be received on Sunday September 1, 2002 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday September 2, 2002 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Andrew Haskins, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of Allegany will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Free Methodist Church of Allegany.
