James E. Nolan, Jr. "Loving father and grandfather" Allegany, NY-- James E. Nolan, Jr. of 1703 Allegany St. died Monday (January 17, 2005) in his home. Born May 2, 1920 in Newark, NJ he was the son of James E. and Mary M. Pisconski Nolan, Sr. In 1948 in Vandalia he married Delores Zink who predeceased him June 6, 1995. Mr. Nolan was a resident of Allegany Street most of his life and worked at Clark Bros. in Olean for 47 years prior to his retirement. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In later years he and his wife maintained a large vegetable garden. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Navy. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and the United Steelworkers Union Local #4601. Surviving are 2 sons Dr. Michael E. Nolan of Niagara Falls, NY and Donald J. (Sharon Washington) Nolan of Allegany; 2 daughters Susan A. (Jeffrey) Hines and Ann Marie Nolan, both of Allegany; 2 grandsons Mark Nolan and Christopher Nolan; 1 great granddaughter Tiffany Nolan; 3 brothers Edward Nolan of Minnesota, Eugene (Dolly) Nolan of Rochester and Thomas Nolan of Olean; 2 sisters Margaret Bush of Olean and Marian Waterman of Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by 2 brothers Robert V. Nolan and Paul F. Nolan. A private family gathering will take place Friday (January 21, 2005) from 9:00am until 10:00am at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. A private funeral service will follow at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to a charity of the donor‘s choice.
