Marguerite A. Palumbo "loved living in Olean" Olean, NY--Marguerite A. "Peg" Palumbo of 401 Alder St., formerly of 312 Wayne St. died Saturday (August 22, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital. Born August 21, 1940 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of John J. and Frances M. Burger Handley. On October 12, 1987 at St. John’s Church in Olean she married Anthony "Tony" Palumbo who predeceased her June 21, 2000. Mrs. Palumbo was a graduate of Olean High School and of the Continental School of Beauty in Olean. She had been a self-employed beautician for many years, operating Peg’s Beauty Shop from her home. She was a member of St. John’s Church, and she enjoyed living in Olean all of her life and conversing with her friends. Surviving are 2 sisters Mary (John) Caruso of Cincinnati, OH and Kay Cirman of Pittsford, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 sister Jean Scott and 1 brother John "Jack" Handley. Friends will be received today from 6-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (August 25, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John’s Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to P.R.A.L.I.D. (People Rebuilding and Living in Dignity) 620 W. Fall Rd. Rochester, NY 14620 or to St. John’s Church.
