Obituary of Dorothy I. Converse

Dorothy I. "Dot" Converse "loving person" Hinsdale, NY-- Dorothy I. "Dot" Converse of 4832 Five Mile Rd. died Saturday (May 7, 2005) in the Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY after a short illness. Born August 19, 1935 in Humphrey, NY she was the daughter of Lawrence and Vernice Bentley Learn. On December 20, 1953 at the Learn homestead in Ischua she married Neil L. Converse who survives. Mrs. Converse was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School and had been employed by the former Crosby Poultry Co. and the former Rhode’s Baking Co., both in Hinsdale. She was a longtime member of the Five Mile Baptist Church and of the Ischua Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary. She was formerly active with the Rebekah Lodge of Olean, the former Five Mile Grange and the former Women’s Aglow. She volunteered for over ten years for the Salvation Army in Olean. Her hobby was doing crafts of all kinds and she enjoyed bingo. Surviving besides her husband are 5 children Lawrence L. Converse of Hinsdale, Duane A. Converse of Olean, Neil A. Converse of Hinsdale, Holly A. (Richard) Kennedy of Hinsdale and Stacey L. !McCready of Olean; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 daughters Martha I. Studley in 1995 and Rose M. Converse who died as an infant and 1 sister Elaine Bush in 1996. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday (May 10, 2005) from 10 until 11am at the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany. Funeral and committal services will follow at 11:00am at the church. Rev. James Mitchell, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery, Maplehurst. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ischua Fire Department or to the Five Mile Baptist Church.
