Charles R. Dineen Tuscaloosa, AL – Charles R. Dineen, formerly of Olean, died Tuesday July 19, 2005 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in Middletown, NY on February 22, 1928 he was the son of Charles and Irene Post Dineen. In 1952 he married Kathleen Shay who predeceased him. In 1988 he married Sophie Bell who survives. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy for two years. He received a BBA degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University. Mr. Dineen worked in commercial banking for 34 years, starting as a teller at the First National Bank of Olean and retiring as Regional President for Manufacturer's Hanover Bank, a position he occupied for fifteen years in Olean and Buffalo. He was President of the Cattaraugus County Banker's Association and Chairman of Group One of the New York State Bankers Association. Mr. Dineen served on the board of trustees of his beloved St. Bonaventure University where he also served as chairman of the finance committee. He was named Trustee Emeritus in 1990. He was the alumnus of the year in 1966 and held numerous alumni offices. He was also very active in civic affairs serving as Treasurer and Director of the Better Business Bureau of Western New York, President of the Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chairman of the board of trustees of St. Francis Hospital. In addition he also served as president of the United Way, Red Cross and the Bartlett Country Club. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Cypress Links in Jupiter, FL, Bartlett Country Club of Olean, Crag Burn in East Aurora, NY and North River Golf and Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, AL. In addition to his wife Sophie, he is survived by two daughters Eileen (Michael) Roff and Colleen (Anthony) Dieteman, both of Olean; two sons Daniel (!LeeAnn) Dineen of Olean and Kevin Dineen of Rochester; a stepson Steve (Stephanie) Stephens of Tuscaloosa, AL; a stepdaughter Suzanne (Justin) Byrom of TN; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; sister Mary (Thomas) Meyers of Middleton, NY and a brother James (Doreen) Dineen of Freeville, NY. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Dineen and Mike Dineen in 1987. Friends will be received on Friday July 22, 2005 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 23, 2005 at St. Bonaventure University Chapel at 10:00 AM. Rev. Dominic Monti, OFM will be celebrant. Burial and committal services will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure University, St. Bonaventure, NY 14778; St. Mary of the Angels Church or St. Francis of Assisi, Tuscaloosa, AL
