Obituary of Charles Simons

Charles R. (Cubby) Simons Enjoyed bicycling Knapp Creek, NY– Charles R. (Cubby) Simons of Knapp Creek died Saturday (July 23, 2005) in the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility. Born April 16, 1923 in Olean, NY he was the son of Harry and Helen Russell Simons. Mr. Simons first lived in Cattaraugus, then later Elkdale and Salamanca prior to moving to Knapp Creek. For years he enjoyed bicycling and he also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time in the area parks. He was a member of the Knapp Creek Fire Department. Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters including Mary Jane Sharp and an infant sister Susan Simons and 2 brothers Paul Simons and Curtis Simons, Sr. There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial graveside service to be held Wednesday (July 27, 2005) at 1:00pm in Allegany Cemetery. Rev. Daniel !McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany will officiate. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Knapp Creek Fire Department. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
