Obituary of Sara Jane Collins

Sara "Sally" Jane Collins "Allegany Native" Mentone, CA-- Sara "Sally" Jane Collins of Mentone, a native of Allegany, died Friday (July 15, 2005) at her home in Mentone. Born May 26, 1936 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Francis and Adelyn Krampf Collins. Ms Collins was a graduate of Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA and retired as a Captain from the United States Air Force and then served as a civilian employee at Norton Air Force Base. She also worked as a postal carrier for 15 years in Mentone. She was a member of the American Legion Post 106, an avid golfer and an active member of the Calimesa Golf Club as well as the Woman’s Veterans Golf association. She touched many lives and will be missed by her family and friends. Surviving are 2 brothers Thomas (Gail) Collins of Denville, NJ and Gerald (Margaret) Collins of Cuba; 2 nephews Sean Collins and J. Christian Collins and 6 nieces Erin Darakjy, Pamela Leneghan, Colleen Collins, Megan Kim, Jennifer Collins and Mary Kathryn Ryan. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 brothers J. Richard Collins and Kevin Collins. A visitation and funeral service was held July 23, 2005 in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in Yucaipa, CA. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass to be celebrated Wednesday (August 11, 2005) at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial of her cremated remains will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
