Olean, NY– Margaret T. Freeman, 87, of Olean, formerly of N. Arlington, NJ died Sunday (November 20, 2005) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born January 31, 1918 in Harrison, NJ she was the daughter of Michael and Catherine Brady Kennelly. On July 17, 1954 at Holy Cross Church in Harrison, NJ she married James G. Freeman who survives.
Mrs. Freeman attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Good Counsel High School in Newark, NJ and later worked as a sales clerk for Hahne & Co. in Newark. She had resided in Harrison until her marriage, then in N. Arlington for most of her life prior to moving to Olean in October of this year.
She had been a member of Queen of Peace Church in N. Arlington. Her hobbies included playing cards, gardening and reading. She also loved to dance and to spend time with her brothers and sisters. Her grandson Ethan was the joy of her life and her devotion to her husband was unequaled.
Surviving besides her husband are 1 daughter Mary (Michael Kelley) Freeman of Olean; 1 grandson Ethan Freeman Kelley; 1 sister Rosemary Moore of Harrison, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 2 sons James Freeman in 1988 and Michael Freeman in 1991; 3 brothers William Hedderman, John Kennelly, and James Kennelly and 4 sisters Catherine Hedderman, Mary Mahoney, Anne Kelley and Elizabeth Fixter.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 23, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. John's Church, Olean. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. A scriptural wake service will be held this evening at 8:45pm in the funeral home.
