“Beloved mother and grandmother”
Olean, NY-- Mary Zita Nicoletta of 1871 Willard St. died Sunday (November 27, 2005) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born January 11, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of Louis and Mary Kelly Ruggieri. On June 6, 1953 in Olean, NY she married Edward V. Nicoletta who predeceased her June 15, 1996.
Mrs. Nicoletta was a graduate of Olean High School and had resided in Olean most of her life. She had worked at the former Daystrom Furniture Co. in Olean and also the former Bradner’s Department Store. For the past two years she had been employed by the NYS Department of Veterans Affairs in Olean.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and she enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino, and bowling. She had been a member of the Olean Bowling Association from 1950 until 1992. Prior to her marriage she sang for several years with local bands.
Surviving are 6 daughters Debra A. (Dennis) Dash of Allegany, Zita Mattison of Portville, Sharon Nicoletta of Olean, Cathy P. Cassata of Rochester, Mary Ann (Punk Transue) Chesebro of Olean and Christine Nicoletta of Grafton, MA; 17 grandchildren Sara, Debbie, Jennifer, Thomas, Mary Kelly, Michael, Matthew, Justin, Kevin, Julie, Corey, Molly, Tiffany, Edward, Nicholas, Sam and Abby; 1 brother Ford (Helen) Ruggieri of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Irene Swiderski.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 30, 2005) beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the fund drive for a Veterans Transport Van, Cattaraugus-Allegany County Joint Veteran’s Council C/O Robert !McGinty 5251 S. Nine Mile Rd. Allegany, NY 14706.
