Obituary of Patrick J. Connelly

Patrick J. Connelly Olean, NY-- Patrick J. Connelly, 63, of 112 S. 25th St. died Thursday (October 2, 2003) in The Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center, Olean following a lengthy illness. Born June 28, 1940 in Olean he was the son of Francis and Anne Cullather Connelly. On November 24, 1960 in Olean he married the former Patricia Huff who survives. Mr. Connelly was a 1959 graduate of Olean High School and was employed by the City of Olean Police Department from 1962 until 1967. In March of 1967 he entered the State Police Academy and served at the Olean Barracks from 1967 until 1989. In 1979 he was promoted to the rank of Investigator. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, the NYS Retired Troopers Association, a former social member of the Allegany American Legion and a former member of the Olean Elks Lodge #491. Surviving besides his wife are 1 son Michael (Jenny) Connelly; 2 daughters Carolyn (Darrell) Torrey of Olean and Judith (Stephen) Darrow of Churchville, NY; 5 grandchildren; 3 brothers Francis (Linda) Connelly of Olean, James (Diana) Connelly of Allegany and Paul (Darlene) Connelly of Olean; 4 sisters Elizabeth Connelly of Olean, Anne (Thomas) Angora of Rochester, Maureen (Edwin) Negron of Olean and Kathleen Connelly of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Joseph Connelly. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (October 4, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
