Frances F. Halliday
Mint Hill, NC-- Frances F. Halliday of 6931 Wilson Grove Rd., formerly of Old Rock City Rd. in Olean died Thursday (December 29, 2005) in the loving arms of her family in Mint Hill after a long illness.
Born March 25, 1934 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Albert L. and Evelyn Fox Ferry. On March 29, 1952 in Ocala, FL she married Francis C. J. “Doc” Halliday who predeceased her July 17, 1992.
Mrs. Halliday attended school in Perry, NY and in 1980 received her GED. She had worked as a supervisor and sales representative for House of Lloyd from 1985 until 1990. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church where she taught CCD classes for 2 years and sang in the choir for 5 years. She served as the past president of the Olean Eagle’s Auxiliary #616 and as the past ladies auxiliary president of the Town of Olean Fire Department.
Surviving are 8 sons Francis Halliday of Washington, Charles (Mary) Halliday of Eastaboga, AL, Ronald (Stacey) Halliday of Lacey, WA, Joseph Halliday of Allegany, Gerald (Debra) Halliday of Duke Center, PA, George Halliday of Maiden, NC, Elmer Halliday of Olean and Neal Halliday of Randolph; 5 daughters Mildred Halliday of Mint Hill, NC, Patricia (Paul) Wilcox of Casselberry, FL, Frances (Henry) August of Westfield, PA, Lillian Halliday of Eureka, CA and Mary (Jan Will) Halliday of Henderson, MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters Betty Marko, Vivian Thomas and Emily Starcher, all of Ohio and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (January 4, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
