Obituary of Myrtle Lydia Colley Grey

Myrtle Lydia Colley Grey "beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother" Allegany, NY-- Myrtle Lydia Colley Grey, 94, of Allegany died Sunday (January 4, 2004) at her home. Born August 10, 1909 in Machias, NY she was the daughter of William and Ella Rose Colley of Hinsdale, NY. In 1929 in Arcade, NY she married Seldon Burdette Grey. They were together for 64 years until his death on February 13, 1993. Mrs. Grey was a resident of Allegany and she and her husband had a second home in Stuart, Florida. In addition to being a homemaker, she helped her husband with his business as a self-employed contractor. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany. She loved music and enjoyed playing the organ. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels. Surviving are 1 daughter Carol Pacer (Jack) Enderlee of Oklawaha, FL; 2 sons Neil Mason (Vicki) Grey of Lander, Wyoming and Jon Seldon (Sandy) Grey of Allegany; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 daughter Ellen Janet Grey; 4 brothers James Colley, Charlie Colley, Merle Colley and Loyal Colley; 5 sisters Mary Lockwood, Nova Collins, Nellie Goodell, Leora Kent Brull and Thelma !MacPherson. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (January 8, 2004) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Ellsworth Jackson, interim pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
