June Luzier Smith Eldred, PA-- June Luzier Smith, formerly of King Street in Eldred died Wednesday (January 14, 2004) at the Bradford Manor. Born June 4, 1924 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Earl and Gertrude Hay Pratt. She was married to Virgil B. Hewitt who predeceased her. She later married Norman J. Luzier, Sr. who predeceased her February 18, 1956. She was then married to Arnot M. Smith, Jr. who died March 5, 2000. Mrs. Smith resided in Buffalo most of her life where she worked for the Johnson Nuts and Bolts Co. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Buffalo and also a volunteer for the "Legion of Mary". She also resided in Olean and Portville and worked for the former Thatcher Glass and also for the Olean Tile Co. She had been a resident of Eldred for the past ten years. She enjoyed knitting and cooking. Surviving are 4 sons Loren (Judy) Hewitt of Niagara Falls, NY, Norman J. (Win) Luzier, III of Detroit, MI, Kenneth J. Baker of Dallas, TX and Theodore A. Baker of Attica, NY; 3 daughters Violet A. (Alfonzo) Hill and Helen P. Hewitt, both of Buffalo and Norma M. Luzier of S. Carolina; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister Yvonne Nellis of Eldred, PA; 2 brothers Robert Pratt of Shinglehouse, PA and Carl Pratt of Georgia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands she was predeceased by 2 sons John Horsey and Richard Hewitt; 1 sister Freda Mallik and 2 brothers Hazen Pratt and John Pratt. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday (January 18, 2004) from 2 until 4pm at which time funeral services will be held at 4pm. Rev. John H. Lapp, retired, of Port Allegany, PA will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Birch Grove Mennonite Church in Port Allegany, PA.
