Obituary of Elizabeth A. McCabe

ELIZABETH A. McCABE Allegany, NY--Elizabeth A. !McCabe of Route 417 in Allegany died Wednesday (October 15, 2003) in the Erie County Medical Center from complications due to a motor vehicle accident. Born March 29, 1936 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Constantine and Anna Prechtel !McCabe. Miss !McCabe was a 1954 graduate of Allegany Central School and graduated from Buffalo State College in 1958. As a lifelong resident of the Allegany area she had been employed at the library of St. Bonaventure University where she was recently recognized for 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and served as a eucharistic minister and lector at the church. She was active with the One In The Spirit Prayer Group and also was a minister of the Secular Franciscan Order. Surviving are a niece Kathy (Richard) Jackson of Phenix City, AL and a nephew Thomas (Brooke) !McCabe of Fredricksburg, VA; 9 great nieces and nephews, 2 aunts Gertrude !McGinnity of Olean and Veronica Nenno of !DeBary, FL; 1 uncle Jerome Prechtel of St. Mary’s PA and several cousins, including Elizabeth Palumbo and Mary Jo !O’Meara, both of Olean. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by an infant brother Joseph !McCabe and 2 brothers Thomas !McCabe and James !McCabe. Friends will be received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (October 18, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 10:00am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Twin Tiers Pregnancy Care Center 2 Main St., Suite 115 Bradford, PA 16701 or to St. Bonaventure Church.
