Helen T. Laverty "Loving mother and grandmother" St. Louis, MO-- Helen T. Laverty, a former longtime resident of West Henley St. in Olean, died Friday (February 6, 2004) at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center from complications after a long illness. Born August 21, 1915 in Pound, Wisconsin she was the daughter of Lawrence and Rose Derezinski Konkol. In 1938 in Olean, NY she married James R. Laverty who predeceased her April 12, 1997. Mrs. Laverty was a former member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. She had been employed for a short time for the former Richard’s Clothing Store and Bradner’s Department Store in Olean. She spent most of her life caring for and raising her family. Surviving are 5 children Marney (Robert) Kockler of St. Louis, MO, Robert Laverty of Sacramento, CA, Glenn (Diane) Laverty of Houston, TX, Mark (Charlotte) Laverty of Meridian, ID and David (Sue) Laverty of Olean; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister Mary Konkol of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter !DiAnne Laverty Woods in 1999. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (February 11, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center 515 Main St. Olean, NY 14760.
