Obituary of N. Constance Bennett

N. Constance Bennett Allegany, NY-- N. Constance Bennett of Devereux Drive died Saturday (February 7, 2004) in The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Olean. Born November 24, 1916 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Biagio and Mary Serio Palestine. On December 17, 1943 in New Orleans, LA she married Earnest Bennett who predeceased her December 29, 1964. Mrs. Bennett graduated from high school in Buffalo and resided there most of her life. She spent many winters residing in Pompano Beach, FL and has lived in Allegany for the past 27 years. While in Buffalo she operated the Fashion Trend Beauty Salon. While in Pompano Beach she was a member of St. Elizabeth Church and sang in its choir from 1980 until 2000. She was also a member of the Lady Knights Council 1220 in Allegany. She enjoyed reading and shopping. Surviving are a daughter Carole (John) Miller of Allegany; 4 grandchildren 2nd Lt. Patrick Miller, serving with the US Army in Ft. Hood, TX, Cathy Miller, Matthew Miller and Tim Miller, all of Allegany; 3 sisters Frances Binda of Tonawanda, NY, Elaine (Bud) Snyder of Florida and Geraldine Elie of Grand Island, NY; 1 brother Basil Palestine of Buffalo and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 sister Jennie Monesi; a brother Anthony Palestine in 1963 and an infant brother and sister. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (February 16, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY 1284 French Rd. Depew, NY 14043 or to the Autism Society of America WNY Chapter 19 Limestone Dr. Williamsville, NY 14221.
