Obituary of Anita B. McCaffery

Anita B. McCaffery Allegany, NY Anita B. McCaffery, 90, of Four Mile Rd., passed away Tuesday (December 24, 2024) at Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Care after a recent admission and after a long, well-lived life. Born June 18, 1934 in Olean, she was the daughter of Joseph and Karolina Kuntz Helmert. On October 2, 1954 in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married Thomas E. McCaffery who predeceased her August 28, 2014. Anita attended St. Bonaventure Parochial School and then graduated from Allegany Central School in 1952. She first began working at the telephone company until taking a job at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse for a number of years. She was a longtime member of St. Bonaventure Parish and also was a member of Sixty-Plus in Allegany. She always carried a positive demeanor and loved sharing her time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind 2 sons, Jeffrey (Teresa) McCaffery of Allegany and David (Deborah) McCaffery of Titusville, FL; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 sister Elizabeth Henry of Stuart, FL; a daughter-in-law Lynda McCaffery of Allegany; a son-in-law John Crisafulli of Allegany; 1 niece and 1 nephew. In addition to her husband Tom, she was predeceased by a son Daniel McCaffery; a daughter Linda Crisafulli, and a niece Debbie Henry. The family welcomes friends to attend a memorial mass to be held Monday (December 30, 2024) at 10am at St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery next to her husband. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, 95 E. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706. Arrangements are with the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
