Obituary of Doris Kuczma

Doris Kuczma Olean, NY-- Doris Kuczma, a longtime Olean resident, died Sunday (February 22, 2004) in The Pines Health Care Center, Olean where she had resided the past 6 years. Born April 9, 1923 in Salamanca, NY she was the daughter of Edward and Cecelia Weaver Zimmerman. Mrs. Kuczma was a graduate of Salamanca High School and later graduated from the Wyoming Co. Community Hospital School of Nursing in Warsaw, NY. Her interest in nursing began with her having been the first Candy Striper for the Salamanca District Hospital. She then became a nurses aide. After graduation she began working at the hospital in Warsaw, soon becoming the hospital nursing supervisor and also teaching at the hospital’s school of nursing. She retired in 1974. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and also of the Wyoming County Community Hospital Alumni Association. Surviving are 3 sisters Elizabeth Edmund of Salamanca, Dorothy (Russell) Vecchio of Olean and Anna Marie (Earl) Satterley of St. Petersburg, FL; 7 nieces and 7 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 4 brothers Edward Zimmerman, Herbert Zimmerman, Charles Zimmerman and Milton Zimmerman. At Mrs. Kuczma’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca. Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Pines of Olean Memorial Fund, 2245 W.
