Obituary of Edwin J. App

Edwin J. App Olean, NY Edwin J. App, 69, of 1205 Buffalo St., passed away Wednesday (July 16, 2024) at the Olean General Hospital. Born August 31, 1954 in Olean, he was the son of Fredrick and Evelyn Shick App. He was formerly married to June Turek who predeceased him. Since April of 1976 he has shared a loving companionship with Janice Nobles Gilkey. Ed attended Olean High School and then served 3 years in the US Army from 1972 to 1975, having spent part of that duty in Germany. He was self-employed for a number of years and then retired as a painter for M J Painting Contractor Corporation in Olean. Ed loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman as well as having enjoyed hiking and camping. He most enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He leaves behind 3 children, Joni App (David) York of Olean, Jeremy (Angela) App of Olean, and Jason (Crystal) Nobles of Allegany; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister Sharon Colon of Kingston; 2 brothers, Jeffrey App of Olean, and Theodore App of Olean, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife June, and his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Delores Rhinehart. A celebration of Ed’s life is planned for Saturday (July 27, 2024) beginning at 3pm in the Christopher Colombus Lodge, 540 N. Union St. in Olean. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 1644 Olean-Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 14760. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
