Obituary of Thomas K. Kausner

Thomas J. Kausner Portville, NY Thomas J. Kausner, of Deer Creek Rd., passed away peacefully Sunday (July 7, 2024) at his home, surrounded by his family. Born August 27, 1954 in Buffalo, he was the son of Kenneth W. and Theresa O’Neil Kausner. On August 8, 1981 in Buffalo, he married Cheryl A. Kozen who survives. Tom was a registered pharmacist, having earned a bachelor of science degree in 1980 from the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy as well as having completed a clinical internship at Buffalo General Hospital. He practiced in Lockport, Medina, Olean, and Wellsville prior to retiring in 2015. He was a hard-working family man who enjoyed his and Cheryl’s home located on a 12-acre piece of paradise. He was an avid woodworker and did stone masonry. He enjoyed creating and maintaining a gorgeous yard and he always had a project going in an effort to make something beautiful. Tom also enjoyed watching the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl of nearly 43 years; 2 sons Jared (Beth) Kausner and Josh (Abby) Kausner, both of Allegany; 4 grandchildren, Margot, Sylvie, Christian, and Dominik; 4 siblings Kenneth (Bonnie) Kausner, Anne (Robert) Wirt, Kathleen (Michael) Metzger, and Eileen (David) Zeigler, and several nephews and many cousins. The family invites friends to a visitation on Friday (July 12, 2024) from 3-5:30pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service which will include a time of sharing will begin at 5:30pm in the funeral home. Pastor Chris Emminger of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, will officiate.
